8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Workshop Focus: Enabling geoscientists to successfully navigate the human resource (HR) professional procurement pipeline: Constructing effective cover letters, resumes, CVs and preparing for the behavior–based interviews that determine whether or not you gain entry into the professional geoscience workplace.

Purpose: To better prepare IU geoscience job candidates for the professional recruiting process, to establish an awareness of the level of excellence required to navigate a procurement process designed by human resource specialists, and to promote success in the professional workplace.

Dr. Jeffrey Walls

Speaker: Dr. Jeffrey Walls, Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) Lifetime Member, Professor of Business Administration and Faculty Member of the Board of Trustees, Indiana Institute of Technology.

Workshop participants are expected to submit a cover letter of interest and a resume or CV in PDF form. These materials should target a geoscience job that is of interest to the student registrant. Attach your PDF cover letter and resume/CV in the space provided below and complete the form with your name, graduate or undergraduate status, and current area of geoscience interest or research specialization. It’s that simple. Student submittals will be critiqued during the workshop. Feel free to submit something already prepared. To maintain anonymity, students may remove or blackout the name and contact information from cover letters and resume/CVs.
