Information for Prospective Students
The Geological Sciences department at IU is expanding with new new equipment, courses and especially faculty and scientists.
Our graduates have found employment throughout the energy and environmental industies as well as in government, academia and research institutions. The quality of our students and the range of their achievements attract many recruiters who come to Bloomington and compete to employ our graduates.
The department's history goes back over 165 years and has become one of the most vital, well funded units of Indiana University.
Over 40 faculty, scientists, adjunct faculty, post-docs, research faculty and visiting scientists work with under 100 total graduate and undergraduate students.
This low student–to–faculty ratio, coupled with a collaborative, open–door culture creates a great environment for education.
