The Geology Department, housed in the same building with the State of Indiana Geological Survey Offices, has a long and storied history here at IUB. The Department offers both a BS and BA major as well as a minor. Courses range from “Meteorites and Geological Processes in Planets” to “Geobiology”. With supply and demand of oil and gas being what they are projected to be in the coming years, many are predicting that many geology jobs will be created. I help students decide on courses, help plan semester schedules and overall programs, and help in any way I can to see that students are successful in the program and at IU. My door is just about always open, and I thoroughly enjoy helping and getting to know students. I also advise for the BSES and Geography Departments so I have an office in both places. Since I have 2 offices and 2 phone numbers, it's best to e-mail me about times to get together (firstname.lastname@example.org). I'm a native, lifetime Bloomingtonian. My BS from Cornell University was in Natural Resources and I have a master's from SPEA. I'm serving my 3rd term on the Bloomington City Council and on the side I'm a performing singer-songwriter-mandolin player-bandleader. I have also been a high school science teacher.
